OAKBROOK TERRACE – A deliciously twisted musical comedy awaits audiences in the Drury Lane Theatre production of "Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical," playing through June 23 in Oakbrook Terrace.
The Broadway musical won five Tony awards in 2013, and while based on a children's book about a precocious 5-year-old by Dahl, author of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," the story has plenty of appeal for both adults and kids.
The superb cast features a large number of young performers portraying fellow students in various grades at Matilda's school. On opening night, Audrey Edwards, a sixth-grader from Chicago, who shares the title role with fifth-grader Natalie Galla of Warrenville, wowed the audience with her acting and singing talents.[Photos provided by Brett Beiner]
